INTRODUCTION
To celebrate Gothenburg’s 400-year anniversary, Lyxery by Sweden (a Swedish jewellery company) reached out to me to design something very special for this event. They wanted a pendant depicting the sea god Poseidon. The inspiration for it comes from the Poseidon sculpture, a work by Carl Milles unveiled in 1931, which has since become one of Gothenburg's most iconic landmarks.
Lyxery by Sweden
Lyxery by Sweden, established in 2020, is a Swedish jewellery company co-founded by two brothers, Ludvig and Linus Engström. Frustrated by the lack of fashionable men's jewellery in the market, they embarked on a mission to craft their unique designs and introduce them to the world!
CREATING THE PENDANT
Low-fidelity Sketching
The initial series of sketches aimed to capture the distinctive pose of the Poseidon statue in Gothenburg, with a primary emphasis on visualizing a recognizable silhouette.
High-fidelity Sketching
The second iteration of the pendant design sketches concentrated on refining intricate details while infusing additional aquatic elements.
Translating 2D into 3D
Once the 2D sketch was approved, a talented 3D designer was recruited to bring the design to life in three dimensions. I remained deeply involved throughout the 3D modelling process, providing guidance and insights to ensure a faithful translation.
This collaboration not only transformed the 2D design into 3D but evolved it into a more refined design.
